Pilates Equipment Maintenance Guide
This guide provides essential information to help you use and care for your Pilates apparatus safely and effectively. Please read the guide carefully and follow all instructions.
Regular care and maintenance will:
Help prevent avoidable wear and damage
Extend the life of your equipment
Support safe and reliable use over time
After Each Use
Springs on the Reformer and Wunda Chair should be disconnected after each use.
Spray upholstery with a non-abrasive solution (for example, mild soap and water or a vinyl-safe cleaner).
Wipe down with a soft, clean, damp cloth.
⚠ Avoid products that contain alcohol, bleach, citrus, or other harsh chemicals, as these can dry out and damage the vinyl and may void your warranty.
Weekly Maintenance
Reformer
Vacuum dust and hair from the rails and clean the tracks to ensure smooth operation.
Clean the carriage wheels: place a clean, damp cloth on the track and roll the carriage back and forth so that all wheels pass over the cloth and any dust or residue is removed.
Wunda Chair
Vacuum dust and hair from the arm hinge.
Monthly Maintenance Checks
Springs
Spring maintenance is crucial for safe operation.
Replace springs at least every two years, or sooner depending on usage and environment.
Inspect springs regularly for:
Wear
Gaps
Corrosion
Kinks
⚠ If any issues are found, replace the spring immediately. Damaged springs can break and cause serious accidents.
Bolts & Screws
Check and tighten all bolts and screws on your equipment.
Pins and Pivot Arms
Regularly check pins for wear and cleanliness.
Apply 3-in-1 oil to:
Wunda Chair arm
Cadillac pins
Reformer pulley
Quarterly Maintenance Checks
Ropes and Straps
Check the safety strap on the Cadillac to ensure that it is in good working order.
Replace ropes and straps if frayed or worn.
Wash straps and “fluffies” (on the Cadillac) as needed:
Place inside a pillowcase or delicates bag.
Wash on a gentle setting.
Air dry only (do not tumble dry).
Pulleys and Hardware
Inspect pulleys for smooth operation and signs of wear.
Ensure ropes run freely through pulleys without fraying.
Replace pulleys if they squeak, catch, or show cracks.
Adjustable Parts (foot-bars, headrests, gear bars, etc.)
Confirm all adjustable components move smoothly and lock securely.
Clean with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
Upholstery and Padding
Check for cracks, tears, or areas of wear.
Address any small damage promptly to prevent further deterioration.
Frame and Structure
Inspect wood or metal frames for chips, cracks, or warping.
Confirm joints are solid and equipment does not wobble.
General Care
Wipe wood and metal surfaces occasionally with a clean, damp cloth to keep them free of hair and dust.
